Roman numerals are part of watchmaking history. Engraving them on a rectangular 20 x 26 mm case is a way of acknowledging this heritage while reinterpreting it in a contemporary language. The Quadro Melrose Roman Numerals Date adds a guilloché pattern to the centre of the white dial and a pair of blue hands that contrast with the warmth of rose gold, creating a Daniel Wellington women’s watch that references tradition without merely replicating it.
The Roman numerals, thickened to remain perfectly legible on a small rectangular dial, occupy the entire perimeter of the dial and give this elegant watch with Roman numerals a graphic presence that simple hour markers could never offer.
The date window at 6 o’clock is integrated into the space left between the numerals, adding useful everyday information without disrupting the balance of the dial. The concentric guilloché pattern, visible at the centre, brings a subtle texture that is only revealed when the light hits at a certain angle.
The stainless steel mesh strap with rose gold PVD coating can be adjusted to the millimetre thanks to a sliding clasp, from 135 to 180 mm, to fit both slender and larger wrists. The interchangeable strap can be removed using a spring bar system, compatible with DW straps in 10 mm, leather or 5-link.
The Japanese quartz movement ensures reliable accuracy with minimal maintenance. Water resistance up to 3 ATM protects the watch from splashes and rain, making it suitable for everyday wear without special precautions.
