On the Classic Mesh Onyx Black, the case, sunray dial, and mesh strap all share exactly the same shade of black, so that the outlines of each component fade away, leaving only a single, dark, continuous surface on the wrist. The hour markers and hands appear tone-on-tone, just slightly lighter, visible only when the light glides across the sunray-effect dial. This 40 mm Daniel Wellington men’s watch reads as a single, seamless object, where the woven mesh extends the case with no visible break.
The black sunray dial captures and redistributes light depending on the angle of the wrist, giving the surface a shifting depth that brings the black to life without using any colour.
The mesh strap in stainless steel, thicker than previous versions, adjusts to the millimetre thanks to a sliding clasp, ensuring a precise and comfortable fit throughout the day.
The black PVD coating covers the case, clasp, and mesh evenly, maintaining the monochrome look through daily wear, including water exposure up to 3 ATM.
The strap can be changed in seconds thanks to the spring bar system, compatible with all DW straps of the appropriate size, allowing you to switch from a dressy style to a leather strap without tools.
By removing all warmth and tonal variation, the Onyx Black reduces the watch to its essentials: the curve of the case, the weight of the mesh on the skin, the clean layout of the dial. It is the most uncompromising version of the Classic, one that communicates solely through the precision of its form.

The watch is resistant to splashes and light rain (up to 3 ATM), but it is not suitable for swimming or showering.
How do I adjust the mesh strap?
The strap features a secure clasp that can be continuously adjusted to fit wrist sizes from 124 to 185 mm.
Can I change the strap for one in a different colour or material?
Yes, the watch uses spring bars that allow you to easily swap the strap for any compatible 20 mm strap.
Does the black finish wear off with use?
The black finish is applied to high-quality 316L stainless steel, designed to withstand daily wear, although over time it may show natural signs of wear in areas of friction.
Is this watch too big or too small for my wrist?
With a 40 mm case, the watch offers a balanced proportion that works well on most wrists—neither too large nor overly discreet.
